Only child...

Amy's brood is sadly a brood of one now, however it does make me laugh everytime I see it!

Cactus turned out

Finally a bit of blue sky and a reasonably fair weather forecast for the week ahead so we decided to turn Cactus out for the summer (before he leaves for his new home in a few months). He lost a bit of weight from being gelded and is desperate for some grass and the sun on his back. He is colouring out rapidly, with great white patches appearing up his neck and sides by the day. A super sweet natured horse and utterly unspooky as you can see from the last photo. I asked Mark to put a rail up on a gap that wasn't horse sized, infact it was barely whippet sized but you never know what they will try to squeeze through if they were trapped. Cactus supervised the hammering and the chain saw!

Molly (of the black and furry footed variety!)

Remember Molly? One of a pair of Dales mares that wintered on the stud? On Sunday night she foaled her first foal, a pure bred Dales colt named Billy, mother and child doing well!

Wills in the wind!

Chamfron Westmister at just over three weeks old, full of character and with the wind under his tail (if some of the photos are blurry its because I was struggling to stand up!!) He likes a good roll, a good itch on mum, a small aggravation of the dogs (no favorites you will notice) and a bit of posing with his best innocent and handsome look!

Calm before the storm?

Its a lovely night on the farm but the rumour is extremely high winds and torrential rain tomorrow, oh joy! Mirador was performing his favorite trick, he can pick up his near hind, his of hind, he can cross pick either and if you ask nicely he will wheelbarrow with absolutely no weight in your hands!! Snow Goose and Firefly were having a canter about in the evening sun and they can certainly both move!

Showjumping at Dromore

A very relaxing day photographing the showjumping at Dromore, near Dumfries today. Sadly entries were low as the weather had been foul overnight but the skies did clear and the sun shone in the afternoon, photos from today here - Dromore Showjumping.

Chamfron Snow Goose - 17 days old

Goosey starts off by doing her Sloth in the Goonies impression "Hey you guys" but then decides to pick up a daisy and pose in a slightly more feminine manner!!

Another TWO foals!!!

Busy night last night, Oor Eagle Eye Cherry foaled down her first foal at 11.30pm, absolutely no trouble at all and she is proving to be a lovely mum. The foal is a chestnut lacy blanket filly with a smart blaze.

Not to be outdone, within minutes Gordian Knot (Tammy) was down and foaled an extremely tall chestnut lacy blanket filly (see a theme there?!) Tammy's foal is sold and will be going to Rebecca in Perthshire, to join her full brother, Chamfron By Dand at weaning.
