We had a run out to Portpatrick today, extremely scenic in the glorious sunshine, managed a walk along the cliff and an ice cream at the seaside! Then much excitement when we picked up our new broodmare, an imported dun Criollo mare "Yaya Gaitan." She loaded and travelled like a dream and is settling in nicely.

Breaking Update - Tiger
Tiger at the end of his second week with us, being both naughty and nice. He has a slightly prickly attitude to life (I know, and such a cute face!) so at the moment the aim is to get him going forward while avoiding the teeth and feet.

Detachable Tow Bars
Max and Tilley should have gone home today but unluckily, or perhaps very luckily, the detachable tow bar on Annie's Landrover... detached! There have been several similar cases over the summer in Scotland and having seen them publicised on Facebook Annie had her tow bar checked out - apparently it was fine!? The good news was the trailer had a domestic with the truck and threw itself into a patch of brambles before grinding to a halt only half a mile from us and in a perfect spot. No horses on board and no other vehicles involved, phew. Many many more dramatic tales of these towbars here - Detachable Tow Bars
It has also been a reminder that the breakaway cable needs to go on the attachment point on the vehicle if it has one and we should stop slinging it over the tow bar like we did in our yoof!

Blair Horse Trials
Chamfron Kukri has been staying up at Blair this weekend and jumping some lovely rounds including 8th out of 66 in the novice showjumping (90cm) today.
Chamfron By Dand and Chamfron Firefly didn't go but they did get a present from the trade stands!
Ted is jocked off...
Tiger has now been backed and a return to better conditions underfoot has seen Tilley out working in the paddock.

Chamfron Morello - 16 Months old
Morello at his second show, sadly despite plenty of other entries he was the only horse forward in the Appaloosa youngstock class at North Devon, so a win but nobody to beat! Looking very well and standing about 14hh now. Photo with kind permission of www.jayphotos.co.uk

Palegallery.com
Chamfron Paloma is of to the WES Nationals this weekend, her first time staying away at a show with Alison and Blue. Scotia at Palegallery whizzed up a door poster for us at very short notice and stayed calm in the face of Mark and I being fussy gits - she is highly recommended. Scotia also does fantastic websites and "knows" horses.
Ted
Tiger really wasn't keen on anything above him so we called in Ted, with his super secure hunting seat and nerves of steel.
Tiger would like to add to his list of complaints about this hotel - sub contraction of work to lower paid staff and humiliation of guests!

Chamfron Westminster - 40 Months old
Three year old Wills has been getting broken in at Peatside Equestrian and I hear he got a good school report! Lisa has had her first ride on him and is thrilled and looking forward to getting him home. Photos with kind permission of Jillian Scott.
Breaking Update
Six year old Tiger arrived on Sunday to be broken in, an enthusiastic busy little horse he thinks he preferred his last holiday which was more club 18-30 (Collecting at the AI centre) to this one (bootcamp!) He has been leant over today and he is wearing the BetaBiothane bridle to test how chew proof it is!
The high winds have died down and the chooks even thought the sun was out enough for a wee bit sunbathing so it was nice to get new photos of Max and Tilley who are progressing nicely.

Chamfron Chipita - Dressage
Chip's busy week continues with her first dressage outing at a local one day event where they were taking dressage only entries. Ridden by Dawn Patrick she behaved impeccably and scored 23.91 penalties (scored as a ODE) with mainly eights. Although technically a winner (only one entered as dressage only!) she would of been second in the dressage if she'd been included with all the other ODE entrants. Now we guess just how many times this week Linda has cursed my name for suggesting she bought a sparkly white horse... well it is sparkly white when she's bathed her, once, or twice, or...!
