The youngsters (Bombero, Milano, Nicobar and Rosa) were watching my mucking out this morning, they felt I should be moving faster and they felt their supervising duties were soooo tiring!

Scruffy yoof no more
Alf (Chamfron Bombero) is now sporting a more grown up look, a short back and sides followed by a manicure.

Stumpy and friends
Bit grey down at the reserve today but there were a few squirrels about, in various shades. We spotted "Stumpy" the short tailed squirrel, last month he had an obviously over grown canine tooth but it had broken off and he seemed to have quite a swelling under his chin from an abscess. He was chomping his way through the hazelnuts and seemed bright despite it.

More red rosettes
Update from Gemma with Chamfron Kukri - "Jackson is awesome!!! Here he is showing off his two winning rosettes from BSJA at ISEC this morning. Enjoying the sunshine and wondering if he can spend all his winnings on carrots! This pony rocks."

What a good horse!
Mark had Arrayan out for a trundle today, I did laugh when I came round the corner and found him parked while Mark got everything he needed. When he came back he had words with his "children" on how a good Criollo should behave!

Red Rosettes!
Chamfron Chipita had an outing to riding club dressage today and won her class (ten entries) with 71.3%. Chamfron Kukri was out jumping winning the 85cm, second in the 95cm and 6th in the 105cm. Impressed at everyone getting out and about in the cold weather.

Chamfron Paloma at Horse Agility
Burns Night horse agility outing for Paloma, despite being a southerner now saltires and tartan bunnets should hold no fear.

Edinburgh Zoo
We went to the zoo yesterday to see the Tapir that was born on New Years Eve, now in my opinion, there is nothing as cute as a baby Tapir - I expect the love child of Arrayan and Stela to look just like this! The Rhinos were in their heated pool looking very content while a (wild) very fluffy grey squirrel could not have looked more cold and miserable. Having seen the Sea Eagles up close I am even more determined to take a trip out to see them on the Isle of Mull this year.

Delicious!
Mojito has settled in to his new home, learning very quickly that Andrew makes the most amazing haylage and it is delivered to a hungry Criollo's door in a blue wheelie bin. He checks that it has all been emptied out onto his floor and he hasn't been shortchanged.

No net, no power...
Our snow is starting to look a bit hard up but we managed to tip toe Arrayan over the ice and get him out for a roll today. The internet and phone have been off since Thursday and today the power is off while we get new poles, I had been rather naive about the amount of big holes getting dug in the foals first paddock, not ideal. My keyboard is now a truly disgusting mix of Starbucks cake crumbs and Kentucky Fried Kitten grease, I can barely bring myself to touch it! We are childishly amusing ourselves with our coffee orders...
Starlings at Rigg
These damn birds are fooling me at every turn this year, I thought last night would be the night to get glorious photos, clear sky, moon, snow and loads and loads of starlings but not quite, they murmured just tantalisingly out of reach behind the farm buildings.
