We nipped over to Lower Gelt, near Brampton today to see the Bee-eaters that are nesting there, lovely brightly coloured wee birds who gave a brief but sparkling display - photos perhaps require a bit of squinting and imagination but you can sort of tell what they are of!!

Chukkas at Stewarton
We went to Karina's today with an empty trailer so we could pick up our latest pony for breaking, Portia. Karina lent Mark Fab who cantered up the field, cantered down the field then neatly removed a shoe and was replaced by Centurion. Lets hope Portia was watching carefully as she is destined to be a polo pony, she seems a sensible soul so far.

Breaking and Schooling Update
Elley went out her first hack, Syd had a wee change of jockey, Fred had a walk and trot in the paddock and Kitty is upgraded to polo tack but downgraded back into the pen due to a lost front shoe.
Mares and Foals - July
Santiago is getting more independent and Ombu is ridiculously photogenic at the moment and knows it!

Breaking update - Fred and Elley
Fred had his first spin out in the pen and Elley is now cantering, both were keeping a beady eye on the winter's haylage which was delivered yesterday. It's just a shame the weather feels so autumnal already!

Colada was second in a strong class of nine at St Boswells show today (in hand yearling hunter). Beautifully turned out by Gemma and looking very well indeed.

Next!
The next horse for breaking has arrived, the lovely Fred (Mannog Zips Candy Man). He has settled in no bother, watched all the comings and goings (thought, eeek, that looks tiring), had a bed time snout kiss and is ready to start work tomorrow. Nice to have some Appaloosa chubby cheeks in Nico's box again.
