Chamfron Outings

Mojito has been busy, he had a lesson with Abi Lyle then another outing to Netherton Equestrian, this time for showjumping.  Two double clears for a first and third place!  Colorado has been out hacking in the snow.

Keep Moving - Week 46

Having been smug about my saintly load up and hack horse a fortnight ago he really wasn't feeling it on Sunday, he didn't walk straight on and when he did he thought he might come straight back off, he was just generally not a happy bunny.  Hey ho, he loaded twenty times, did 45 mins in the arena then loaded some more until he was happy to stand relaxed.  He had another spin around the arena on Friday then boxed up and went out a hack on Saturday.  Far more settled about loading though the railway line was exceptionally busy and we may both have had a melt down about a family flying a kite.  On reflection we have decided it was a good learning experience and no one died, I won't go as far as to say it was enjoyable!  Did twenty work miles and a few more on the treadmill.

Keep Moving - Week 45

I rode in the arena on Sunday then we stayed up with the horses to keep an eye on them while the local firework display went off directly across the road, Spider was more upset he was not brought a toffee apple.  We managed a second fireworks display in Pencaitland on Tuesday night, it appears EX firemen are more obliging about these outings than active ones!  One day on farm getting a few miles in with work then a busier Saturday, rode first thing then headed in to Edinburgh, we did ten miles either side of a meal at The Black Grape and met Paddington.  We then had an additional mile when they cancelled the Tweedbank train and we had to walk from Musselburgh.

Chamfron Mojito has been out arena eventing, Chamfron by Dand had his first day out hunting with the Fife Bloodhounds at Glamis and Chamfron Agata de Fuego did 21km at the Tinwald Halloween Ride.

Keep Moving - Week 44

Started the week by boxing Cactus up for a two hour hack, he was faultless from start to finish and it was super to take out a happy relaxed horse.  On Sunday night the boys came in for the winter and so far it has been lovely to have them in and settled and to bounce out of bed and feel active before work.  I am not naive enough to think that will last, first week of wet weather and I'll be clinging to my duvet and muttering "whose idea was it to have horses?"!  I noticed on Facebook that the local riding club starts their showjumping at forty centimetres so we have had a practise and will be aiming to make it out next time.  We finished the week with a trip to Hillend to do the Alpine Roller Coaster which was a good laugh.  Highly recommend paying for three trips just incase you get stuck behind someone that uses the breaks first time down, we were aiming for the maximum speed of 29 mph.

Keep Moving - Week 43

Another fairly quiet week, a few work miles, a few more miles on the treadmill, pole clinic and stubble fields for Cactus and a stroll around Edgelaw reservoir.

Chamfron Results

Chamfron Milano has been out for his first competitive outing this year, picking up a first and second at British Dressage.  Chamfron Almendra had her last eventing run of the season, double clear at Swacliffe BE90 U18 to finish seventh.  Chamfron Toledo has ben out showing for a 1st, 2nd x2, 4th and Reserve Champion.

Keep Moving - Week 42

A few days off work to get caught up getting the horses a little more ready for winter, both boys had visits from Nicola McArthur for a sports massage and then had their teeth rasped.  Managed strolls around some local haunts, Newhailes, Butterdean and Gifford community woodland.  Rode Cactus again on Saturday then we walked a loop of The John Muir way and East Linton to recce for a future hack and snack with Rebecca.

Keep Moving - Week 41

We popped up to see Rebecca at Vogrie on Sunday and a very laid back Cactus was ridden on Monday, Craig even had a shot on him.  On Thursday I did six work miles, my old stomping grounds at the foot of the Eildon Hills, then we headed out Northern Light hunting once it got dark, a slow start but soon very visible to the naked eye and in every direction.  A little hare hunkered down with Craig's trainers on Friday, managed a quick ride but the weather is definitely feeling quite wintery!
