Round Up - 2025

Ten years on from stopping breeding and the Chamfron horses are still regularly in the rosettes.  Star of 2024 Chamfron by Dand decided he wasn’t ready to slow down and had another belting endurance season finishing by putting the Dragon to bed with another trip to Wales, successfully completing the 55km. That said star of the year is going to Chamfron Colorado, what a season…

Tentsmuir 80km gold thistle final Best condition

Cairngorms 100, 68.5 miles completed in hellish weather and 50mile buckle awarded.

Tentsmuir 60km gold Best condition.

Scottish Championships 2day60km winner

Red dragon 2day160km CER finishing 3rd

My horse highlight for 2025 was on the 2nd of January when we got the three boys, Colorado, By Dand and Cactus Jack out for a hack together.  Equilab tells me that was my longest ride of the year which tells a story of ‘not quite right’ but he currently feels good so we will try again.

I walked a sniff more than last year, same story of starting the year strong before falling in a heap as the nights drew in.  Maybe I need to accept winter is a time to hibernate and recharge?  I am not going in to 2026 fatter than I went in to 2025 but it was a very close run thing!

We had some fabulous holidays, absolutely adored Iceland but then bought the Velcro puppy meaning we will probably never holiday together again.  So in love with her though.

Finishing up with a festive photo of her finding sprouts in the wild!

Another meet up

Chamfron Mojito and Chamfron Nicobar were out arena eventing at Netherton again, picking up a second and third in the 80cm.  Both boys looked great and Prickle cheerfully bounced his lap of honour.

Bailey’s has been consumed…

Sula would appear to be the master of Puppy Parkour, so this year the tree is a £15 offering from Tesco, which may, or in fact may not survive the festive period.  She may have short legs but her long back makes her surprisingly agile, and she’s stealthy, oh so stealthy…

Chamfron Chipita - 16yo

Out doing dressage with her sharer Josie Mills, her first outing since the pandemic.

Back on…

He’s had the summer off, some front shoes on and I’ve bought a different saddle on EBay…
