On Thursday we headed off to Vesuvius, now my dad, a geologist, had said not much to see, not worth the bother but even with those low expectations it was underwhelming, it was cold, damp, visibilty was about 3m, crater, what crater?! (deja vu Ben Nevis!) Tourist tat, tick, one loo per hundred visitors (people exiting looked like they'd been in the bowels of hell), tick, surley entrance staff, tick. Got a free Limoncello though! In the afternoon we dodged (not succesfully) the showers and trekked up three thousand (ahem, roughly) steps to Castel Sant'Elmo and were rewarded with fabulous views over Naples. On the return trip we stumbled on the Maradona Mural where the atmosphere was vibrant and good humoured, definitely a pilgrimage for some.

Keep Moving - Week 16 (Part 1)
Put Cactus back in a bit on Sunday, he is without a doubt happier bitless but he certainly feels less like an ocean going liner in a bit, we also managed a walk along Tyningham beach. On Tuesday we had a morning walk along the Gore Glen and by 10pm we were eating pizza, drinking Aperol and falling in love with a bussling and vibrant Naples. When I booked the holiday I was completely oblivious to the Easter weekend but we decided to roll with it, it would either be awesome (atmosphere / parades) or disasterous (everything closed)! On Tuesday we took a trip to Pompei, honestly I am not entirely sure what I expected but perhaps it wasn't it? It was the first day of the school holidays in Naples, the waits and queues were long. I felt I was more fixated on following our guide (lost him once), he was mostly fixated on brothels and phalic symbols, than Pompei itself? When we got back we had a walk round the Santa Chiara monestry, another world heritage site.

Chamfron Results
Jessica and Chamfron Colorado got their GOLD THISTLE FINAL at Tentsmuir, 80km ridden on their own. Speed category 1 (13.73kmph) Gold award, vetted all the way on 1s and A’s and finished on a HR of 44 in rather warm conditions. Chamfron by Dand also cruised round the 50km. Chamfron Toledo went to his first ever arena event area qualifier, did a lovely dressage test for a score of 35.2 and then jumped a clear round to finish in 2nd place.
