Oooooo Tumble Drier!

You would think that being on the worlds wettest farm we'd of splashed out on a drier before wouldn't you?  Instead we kind of fell into the Comet sale last night looking for a blender and ended up with Mark squashed in the front of Gretchen (the Dodge) practically hugging a tumble drier with no reverse, first or second gear.

Today the comfort rats offered to test it out as while they weren't malodorous they were slightly grubby.  They were a little nervous but off they went in the camper van to go surfing.  Theodore got wipped out by a big wave ("I'm not waving, I'm drowning"!) resulting in  CPR followed with a soothing spell in the sauna.

After a wee tipple in front of a roaring fire, they headed off back to bed, lighter, fluffier and fragrant.

PetNanny Nativity Day!

Today I headed over to Carolines (aka PetNanny) for her nativity get together in aid of Pawz for Thought, as always an absolute hoot.  The rest of the photos are here - Petnanny Nativity.

Anyone selling an ark?

Ah well it continues to drizzle a little here (ha ha!) so Wills and Stela are now in (Stela looked just thrilled to be sharing with her ginger stepbrother) and the rest of the herd have haylage bales out.  I had a wee bet with Mark that the herd wouldn't come charging over to the bales which I would of won if it hadn't been for "oh so helpful mule"!

As soon as the tractor started up she began to honk and charge around, "heeee heeee heee hawwww".  The rest of the herd went "what was that muley?".  I said "heeee heeee heeee hawwwwww - look he's going to feed us."  "Nah" the rest said, "there is grass floating in those other fields, I saw some just sail past and its only November, he's so not feeding us."  "heeeeee heeee hawwwww - I am going to the tractor."  Malambo said "I have your back muley, charge forward"... and with no respect for my wallet and ability to say "see I was right" the rest came too.

Horse Juggling!!

Do you think I could market this as a board game?! All carefully colour coded ("Stallions" "broodmares" "useful but unemployed" "retired" "foals" and "youngsters") to be slotted into stables, barn or field for the winter as appropriate and bearing in mind who does not share (Ruby and Mable), who's bullet hard and who's not. Now I can see two things that would make my life a lot easier... A) Someone coming and buying the rest of the foal crop, allowing me to put the three Criollo's where they are or B) Selling Wills. If both A and B happened I just wouldn't know what to do with myself !!

Kahlua and Honky Sheep!

Photo shoot round two, foal just as disinterested!!  OK lets bring out "Honky Sheep" no self respecting foal will resist the charms of Honky Sheep.  Sheepy comes out and refuses to honk, foal watches us carefully trying to strangle (Doesn't) Honky Sheep who doesn't say a peep in protest.  So we backed Kahlua with sheepy and he dismounted by crawling up her neck and launching himself down her nose.  I did take a few snaps of Kahlua and yet again, what I see with my eyes is not what I capture with the lens.  I think this filly is a belter, she's elegant with a lovely front and a pretty head, I guess if I can't get a decent photo to sell her with she'll just have to stay!!

Chamfron Britannia Weaned.

Betty is now happily weaned and once she has been microchipped on Monday she will go in the pen with the other foals for the winter.  We did make the difficult decision to put her dam, Abelbeck, down at weaning, her old foot injury meant she would not have coped with retirement in the mud here.  Britannia is the full sister to Snow Goose and Colorado.

Chamfron Kahlua Weaned.

Kahlua is now happily weaned, this filly is all class with a dainty head and a super front, sadly the photoshoot we just did in the gloom did her no favours at all, so another job for another day!

Tizona follows her dad into the fencing industry...

Another fantastic Tizona update from Christine, apparently both horses have been enjoying the (very) local bonfire and are now firework, blazing inferno and small child shoving sparkler in your face proof!!  I think we may have said it before but you couldn't of hoped for a more perfect home for this filly and the emails and photos make us smile every time!  You may need to make the photo larger to get the relevance to the title of the blog post!

Red Deer.

We got up early this morning to catch the reults of the US election and then headed over to New Galloway to see the red deer as the sun came up.  Of course the sun didn't really come up and it hoofed it down with rain but still that would be splitting hairs!

Change of Owner!

Chamfron Soutra Brae (Su) is now owned by Ruth Godfree.  A nice kind filly who has been well brought up by Claire and should be absolutely no trouble to break in and enjoy.  Hopefully we will see her out and about next year under saddle.

Fireworks!

Followed by a wee seasonal drink to aid the warming back up!  The theme in Carlisle this year was "The Great British Bonfire" with a spitfire, london bus, the tardis and a crown all set alight!

Rufina and Paloma - 7 Months Old.

Very fluffy girls!!
