Bombero weaned

Bombero was weaned last night and is settling with no problems.  Bellini has arrived on the Isle of Wight, happy, smiley and apparently completely unbothered by her long journey.  She is pictured waiting for the ferry on the last stage of her journey, apparently she was so worried by the ramp going up on the ferry that she changed the hind leg she was resting...!

Chamfron Bellini Away

We delivered Bellini to Eric Gillies yard in Kelso tonight, she loaded and travelled perfectly, she's a super sensible foal.  From there she will head down to Newbury tomorrow night and then to her new home on the Isle of Wight on Tuesday.  Natalie, her new owner, has already done very well in the show ring with an "uncle" to this filly, including ApHC Supreme Champion at the National Breed Show this year.

Lumiere - Durham

Spur of the moment decision yesterday to go to Durham to see the Lumiere Festival where they use light to transform the city into a giant outdoor gallery over four nights.  A grand night, wandered round with mulled wine and hot donuts, every one was in good sprits and we were home before we turned into pumpkins!

Happy Birthday Lehan!

Toledo wanted to wish his new mum a very Happy Birthday today.  Mara is still for sale but she was just desperate to get in on the act and loves hats!!

Toledo now sans catch rope, as I have to fight of him and Mara it's probably not necessary, lots of noses in my camera lens!  Morello muttered to Bellini "don't look now but I think we are outnumbered" and Sheila the Heeler caught up on some kip in the straw, "weaning is tiring and I have no interest in being used as bait to distract foals while you photograph them."

Another bright day from start to finish.  Toledo was weaned today, looking at the photo I'm thinking the catch rope is ridiculously long for such a friendly cheery lad, we'll give that a wee trim tomorrow!

Mara Weaned

We weaned Mara last night and she seemed pretty settled in the pen this morning, tucked up in the straw.  Another glorious frosty bright morning.

Nasty!

Well known fact, takes several cups of coffee before I can communicate or move in the morning which of course meant, got to Dumfries, needed loo.  Fine headed into clean, tidy shopping centre loo and get added entertainment of hearing what wee Chardonnay (OK so that wasn't her name but it wasn't far off in the chaviness scale) is doing in detail.  They leave before me, they don't wash.  I come out and wash my hands, other people leave the cubicles and head on their merry way, I am billy no mates, the only one washing.  Super I am now trapped in the toilets, trying to pull a door open without actually touching it.  Seriously when did people get so scummy they don't wash their hands, we now have (at least) second generation grots, oh and here is a happy thought, bet some of these people work with food...!!!

In the gents Mark is also getting a soap opera, "I was in carphone warehoose, sorting oot my contract like when my bird Britanny comes in and the shop assistants like "is that your mother" so right the missus goes nuts and storms oot and I'm going oot after her and the assistants like "what about your contract" and I'm like "you've just called my girlfriend an old crone" - ah we lead such quiet lives!!!
