Happy Halloween

Trail Cam - Autumn Update

I changed my mind and moved the trail camera location in July, moving it to a spot just off the driveway.  We regularly get deer, badger, fox and squirrel and are getting a lot of "that was nearly a really good photo" shots of them all.  The squirrel is busy stocking up for the winter, totally unaware a wee mouse is helping himself every night.  We also have a very soggy soul strolling past.

Halloween Outfit - Part 2

Ah said the chook to Stela, my Halloween outfit is better, I'm going as a Ripley's Freak, behold the six legged chicken, ta da!  Sadly the feet heard the camera and couldn't resist, first they did their Alien impression but then they had to come out and pose, looking a lot cuter and a lot less scary.

Halloween Outfits

Glorious day today, a break in the torrential rain and high winds we've had for the last week or so.  Arrayan went out in the windmill field and we admired the cobwebs which were springing up everywhere and sailing past us in the air.  By last thing the main herd had decided to get ready to trick and treat early and Stela was very keen to show me her Halloween outfit.

New feathered friends

Eleven little chicks, hopefully now past the stage of needing gathered from the four corners of the yard and returned to their mother at five minute intervals and a resident pigeon we've named Lieutenant Pigeon who is showing no signs of heading back to his original home.

Gelding time

We no longer sell colts so its that time of year again - gelding time!  Ted had heard a rumour and did his best sad face, tug on the heart strings - "I thought we were friends" - but it was to no avail and his next photo as a gelding showed him looking rather depressed.  Mojito, Milano and Nicobar also had a visit from the vet and are now for sale as geldings.

Chamfron Toledo Away

Yearling Toledo delivered to his new home with Cara in Yorkshire today.  He loaded and travelled like a dream and had no hesitation tucking straight into his massive haynet on arrival.

Do not get your hopes up!!

Came in from doing the horses last night to a message "can you call Mark at South Essex Insurance, he called as you entered a competition to win a Horsebox" - if you get this call do not, repeat DO NOT, get excited, you have not won a Horsebox!  South Essex insurance are cold calling to find out when your horse insurance is due for renewal.

Now everyone knows when you enter a competition like this they are using it to get your details, no one is naive enough to think they are giving away a wagon out of the kindness of their hearts so being cold called is fair enough.  Asking you to call them back is a bit bloody off and lets be honest mentioning the competition to make sure you do call back is very off!  I can't quite see how anyone at South Essex Insurance thought this was a cunning plan...

Field Move

The main herd were demanding a field move, while in no way short of grass they start to get quite obvious when they would like a different view.  Sadly I didn't have the camera to record the look of delight on Llamita's face as she threw herself into a large puddle, clearly having lived in Uruguay, Wales and Scotland she felt this summers dry weather had done nothing for her complexion and she needed a mud pack.

Chamfron Hanami - 6 months old.

Bags packed and ready to take on the world!

Chamfron Westminster - 41 months old

Posing beautifully!  Photo with thanks to Paula.

Round two

Second go at mounted shooting with Pitufa this time using water bombs for a more dramatic image.  Mind they are feisty little devils, for every one I got on a fence post five had detonated in my face.
