Perdita and Osito

Happy and settled and enjoying the Cheshire grass.

Lovely morning

Beautiful bright sunshine makes getting through the jobs more pleasant.  Morena, Colada and Milano have been led out and the herd moved into the house field for the winter, with the weaned mares joining them.  Lovely to see them all fluffy and muddy and enjoying the extremely mild autumn.

Trail Camera - November

Some different creatures captured on the trail camera this month along with the usual dear and fox we have a buzzard (quite exciting) and sheep (lots and lots of sheep).

Schooling Update

Habla went well for her owner today so is away home for a winters hacking.  Almost certainly our last schooling livery for the year but I'm already booking a few in to keep Mark busy next year.

Colada Weaned

Colada has been weaned for a couple of days now, a beautiful foal I hope she is going to be just the right mix of extremely cute and a little bit feisty and that Gemma will really enjoy her.  The lovely Mojito is still growing like a weed, that is him standing in front of "Uncle" Bombero who is a yearling.  Uncle Bombero would love someone to buy him and save him from his babysitting duties (preferably before Mojito is bigger than him!)

Habla Update

A gold star for Habla today, front shoes on and a hack past the scary landslide of doom.

Morena Weaned

Morena will be going to join some Icelandic friends in a fortnight, she has been working hard on her fluffy disguise and expects to infiltrate them with no problems!

Chamfron Britannia - Sad News

Sadly on Saturday Rowena's Betty had to be put down after an accident in the field.  We are all gutted, both for the lovely Betty who looked to have such an exciting future and for Rowena who absolutely adored her.

Milano and Nicobar weaned

Nicobar and Milano were weaned yesterday, Nicobar is proving to be completely unbothered and is already leading out happily.  What a dude!

Chamfron Perdita and Osito away.

Perdita and Ted (Osito) have been on an excellent adventure today and are now in Cheshire with John and Bernadette.  A cracking home for two very special little horses, they are already keeping a careful eye on Johns calves.

Tower of London - Poppies

888,246 ceramic poppies filling the moat at the Tower of London, each one signifying a military fatality on the centenary of World War One.

Quick March to London

Spur of the moment decision to dash down to London to see the Poppy installation on Remembrance Sunday before they start to remove them on the 12th.  A look at the train times suggested it could be done with a 5hr and 3min window of opportunity in London, wouldn't want to hang about but definitely "do-able".

Reginald the Chelsea Pensioner Bear gave his uniform a good brush and when he was spick and span we headed off to Carlisle station.  Just a wee delay of fifty minutes (arrrgh) but soon we were on the train and heading to the sunny south.  We arrived at Euston and Reggie suggested a quick four mile TAB to the Tower - I bundled an unsuspecting bear into a taxi instead.  We made it, just in time for the last of the sun to illuminate the poppies and we walked all around the tower both impressed by the spectacle and saddened by what they signified (every poppy indicates a Serviceman's death in WW1).

Reggie posed for a few snaps (not just mine), pulled a much younger woman in the Tower of London Shop and we headed home, glad we'd seen it.

Schooling Update

Habla week one, her report card would read "must go forward"!  Improvement every day though.

Chamfron Kukri - Autumn update

5yo Jackson owned by Gemma Hope has been out and about despite the wild and windy weather.  He has had a few mornings Autumn hunting and some cross country outings too.  This month there is a lesson with Mary King planned before he has his shoes off for a holiday (with some babysitting of his little sister thrown in!).  Photo by DLT Photography.

Chicken pile-up

Broodie chook number two was trying to catch a few rays of sunshine today but the little ones were giving her no peace at all.  A nice day today though the forecast for tomorrow is truly disgusting.  Fatty, Bridget and Ned are rugged, the others will no doubt call me rude names.
