An exceptionally civilised afternoon foaling for Juana, needed a wee pull but a large and (woop woop) palomino roan colt out and on his feet nice and quickly.

Wildlife camera (3) - May
The Birdcam 2.0 has floated about, at first it was down by the river with some amazing plants as a background but sadly all we got one badger backside and hundreds of lamb selfies. It then came nearer home, the tractor shed in fact and is regularly capturing prey and predator, what a poser that Stoat is! I also liked the dragon fly with its shadow on the slate, anyone would think the sun had shone this month (it hasn't).

Chamfron Ombu - 1 day old
Fatima's foal having his first day in the paddock where we sat and watched the crazy races. We are a fusion stud - South American horses with the sound track and fauna of Africa!

Conker - Week three
Conker has been here three weeks and she too had a go with the stick and ball (though she isn't destined to be a polo pony either!) She soon started to follow the ball, bending round nicely and concentrating hard. Then back in, boots off and ready for an afternoon snooze!
Doodle - Week four
Doodle has now been here four weeks, today he was introduced to a stick and ball. He isn't here for polo schooling but it is a good way to get the horses relaxed and keep them interested without endless circles. He was unfazed by near side shots and did a most excellent Rudolph impression. He also knows that you can come round a corner and find anything lurking and that ponies are expected to stand politely to be untacked.

Running a little late...
Gordian Knot (Tammy) foaled a chestnut roan filly at 1.40am after cooking her for over a year, most of this extra work seems to have gone into long legs... and ears!
We have named her Chamfron Quintana as she was born on the hundred year anniversary of the Quintinhill Rail Disaster, which happened just a few miles away. The crash caused the deaths of 228 people and injured a further 246, the vast majority of those were soldiers of the 1/7th Battalion, the Royal Scots on their way to fight in Gallipoli.
HRH The Princess Royal came to the commemoration this morning, we smiled at her having to share a program!
Mark is now keeping a beady eye on the foal in the paddock (sound asleep!)
