Another weekend, another beach! Today we went to Seacliff which is overlooked by both Tantallon Castle and The Bass Rock. It has a tiny harbour, said to be the smallest in the UK. The harbour was originally constructed in 1890 by Andrew Laidley, the then owner of the Seacliff Estate, by using a steam engine and compressed air to cut the stone. Originally busy with small traditional fishing boats working stake nets for salmon off the River Tyne it is now either used by a local crab fisherman or for dive training. As we admired the view a couple who had just got engaged asked Craig to take some photos, then as we were leaving we spotted a second couple doing the same!
