Glorious weather!

Another lovely sunny day, all the broodmares were warm under their rugs first thing so they are now out naked (in March... In Scotland...!!) Nico is merrily strutting his stuff and the chickens and dogs are kicking back in the sun. The Ozpig is out for an al fresco dinner and its nice to sit in the sun and have a beer. The weather is often against us here so when the sun shines I say enjoy it!! Gordian Knot's foal is now sold in utero so we will be touching all wood and saluting magpies furiously until it arrives safe and well for Rebecca!

Follower of fashion...

Nico, otherwise known as "Le Freak" is looking, tres chic, sporting a jaunty off the ear halter as a result of having a major rolling habit and stumpy ears.

Spring turnout.

Good drying (and chicken fluffing) weather and the forecast is set to fair for the week ahead so we have bitten the bullet and all the horses are out in the back field. The broodmares will come back in nearer the house as soon as they start to bag up.

Spring is in the air....

The sun is shining, I even checked the horses this morning sans jacket and ridiculous fluffy hat (I have finally grown up and learnt that cold ears make me grumpy!!) The horses are kicking back, sadly they are piling onto the haylage bales with total disregard to the fact its like gold dust. There is one more bale left of our cut (not one bad bale or niggle, fabulous stuff, my we've been spoilt!!) and the next batch will be £30 plus a bale. There is a grass peaking through, some little daffs bravely flowering and the chooks seem to be getting plenty of bugs today. Wildlife a plenty... woohooo is it wrong to think it might be spring... please?

Chamfron Cactus Jack at 9 months old.

Cactus, who is sold to Dean Scott, but won't be leaving us for a wee while yet has been out for a walk in the sunshine and posing in his new halter!

Growing up and colouring out!

Suits you Sir....

All the rugs are getting hard up, rips here and there, clips snapped and fillet strings fashioned out of bailer twine but not Quinton's... his was perfect. I was really thrilled to look out the bedroom window and see this, first thing this morning!

So on the basis that there is snow forecast for the end of the week we dashed out and got him a new one. I'm thinking the "extra deep" version was overkill!! Note Bubbles rolling about laughing in the background...
