Best place to live?

Melrose topped the list of best places to live in Scotland last week in a Sunday Times survey and I have to agree it's not too shabby!  I took a few snaps today of the Leaderfoot Viaduct, Scott's View (over to the Eildons) and the Chain Bridge over the Tweed.  The sun has been shining most of the week and the boys have had two days with their rugs off, Paddy and Edward looked confused "who are you?" "It's me, Spider!  I'm naked" they looked at each other and shrugged "but you are so much smaller and floofier?"  There has obviously been much bouncing and rolling going on.  The Chamfrons have been busy this weekend, Chaco was placed in a strong showing class, Bellini has qualified for the Sunshine tour at Hickstead and Colorado stormed round his first SERC pleasure ride with Jessica.

The return

The Beast from the East provided a small encore this weekend, it is shifting quicker this time though making patterns on the hills and snow waves on the road side.  I did manage a dander on Spider though and we were pleased to note the return of the odd family of geese that Jo and I saw when they hatched last year, five Canada Geese and an adopted child, a Greylag!

Also adding a sneaky wee photo to the blog as it isn't really my news to blog but I can't resist, ex Chamfron Stud broodmare Morena has produced a red roan colt "Oberto" (Bert of course) by ex Chamfron Stud stallion Arrayan Numa for Ally Weller.  Proof I did the right thing by my horses and found them the best homes and lovely to see the passion continuing all be it in someone else's field!

Battling on!

Ally's two Arrayan fillies came down off the Downs to more sheltered fields last week, I hear they were both stoic and polite in the bitting wind.  Merlin led the way and acted as a snow plow even through ear high drifts!  Malambo was already closer to home so his biggest battle is getting to the hay before Cid does!

Another snow day

Quite definitely snowed in, the drifts on the driveway range from over the knee to a slightly alarming crotch height, I no longer feel guilty for the lack of winter tyres on the car as simply she is going nowhere anyway.  After repeatedly eating my own bodyweight in junk food yesterday I thought a wee stroll was in order, the weather teases me, it brightens up, I grab the camera and head towards the viaduct then I become aware that the black hill has vanished from sight and thirty seconds later I am laughing and bouncing around in yet another white out.
