With another glorious day forecast we headed over to Iona on Sunday, starting at the Abbey before heading North to our first beach, White Strand of the Monk, for a paddle and cheese and biscuits for lunch. We walked round the top of the Island to Traigh an t-Suidhe another beach with soft sands and crystal clear water and then headed up to the summit of Dun I the highest point on Iona where you could see back across to Mull and over to Tiree and Staffa. By Monday the sun had gone and it was feeling more autumnal but we started the day with a boat trip to Staffa to see Fingal's Cave. We haven't had much luck with trips to Staffa and within thirty minutes of booking this one we got an email to see that work to upgrade the landing area was starting that day and landing on the island was now halted, typical! That said, there was just a handful of people on the boat and we all got good views of the cave and some dolphins so I am not sure we missed that much at this time of year. As we were back earlier than expected we headed off to Calgary Bay, stopping at severeal waterfalls en route. I had the nature trail there on my to do list so we had a wander round, good views of the bay but I have been completely spoilt by the Corbenic poetry path and it was underwhelming in comparison. From there we headed up to Tobermory and had a walk along the main street.
