Some moving photos of Marco!

Some moving photos of Marco from Louise and Hannah,  I love seeing the foals growing up in their new homes and there can't be many horses as striking as this lad.

Chamfron Marco Polo as a yearling.

We popped in to see the blue eyed boy Marco in his new home, looking very well and suddenly very grown up, obviously he still sees all humans as personal scratching slaves!!

Away Home!

Presh (Miss Pedantic) went home today as she had a positive heartbeat scan on Wednesday. She is in foal to Exbury Ghost and due on the 23rd of April 2010.

Su goes out.

Chamfron Soutra Brae (Su) goes out in the big field.   Mabel is such a good mother to her foals and absolutely adores them.

Ruby suggests that perhaps Su and Chipita Won't be best pals!!

The criollo cross foals march over to see what is going on!

Enjoy it while it lasts!

The weather has been glorious today and its lovely to see the girls blooming and the foals turning into little tanks.  The two foals by Arrayan have become firm friends so hopefully Chipita will find a fellow spotty pal in Su when she goes out.  Ellie and J.R have left to go to Rachan Stud, where Ellie will visit Wonder.  Just one more foal due and that isn't looking like it will happen anytime soon!

I've got a few spots...

She's even spottier in real life!

How Quick?!!

Mable produces another chestnut filly to Nico on the 22nd.  I checked her at 10.30 pm and she was waxed up but not hot and not restless.  I needed to nip to the loo at 11 pm so I thought while I was on my feet I'd check her again and came round the corner to Mable lying down and small person trying to get up!!

We had our traditional beer while waiting for the foal to stand up and Arrayan let his true colours show - BEER MONSTER!!!

Criollo or Zorse?!

Eeeeek.

Well for once I had headed of for an early night last night, and was just finishing a page of my book and reaching to turn of the light when there was the sound of a car outside.  Well for anyone that hasn't been here, we are at the end of a dirt track that leads nowhere, nobody calls in at midnight or happens to be "driving past"!  We leapt out of bed as the car turned and it became obvious it was a police car (and lets face it, thats never a good sign late at night) but it was off back down the drive.  Mark grabbed his pick up and chased it and I thought "well I'm up now, I'll go check the broodmares" in my classy dressing gown and muck boot ensemble.

So of I went into the dark with my torch and Mark went hurtling off down the drive.  I found the (highly bemused) broodmares and Mark reached the police about the same time.  A car had crashed at the end of our drive, stolen and the driver had absconded off over the fields.  He was known to the police and the impression given was "not a nice bloke..."   Cue Mark hurtling back up the driveway at speed to find me before he did!!!

The girls being cute!!

The boys were too busy snoozing in the sun to bother posing today!

As you can see Viscacha has found the mineral block and is a huge fan of it!

BAH HUMBUG

I was getting my father a birthday card today and they were putting out the cards and decorations in Hallmark FOR CHRISTMAS....

Then the witch on the till apparently couldn't serve me, make eye contact, smile, or say "I'll just be a second" as she was putting the ribbons on said decorations.

My father doesn't know how lucky he is to get this card, said shop assistant doesn't know how lucky she was to not be removing it from a personal part of her anatomy.

It is June isn't it?!!!!!

Foals and more foals!

Chipita goes out...

A very cute thing!!!

Summer and polo

Been a very civilised weekend really, Angie and Andrew came to stay  and it was hot enough to have a BBQ on Friday night and dry both days at the weekend for polo.  Sharon, Rose and Dick came over to see their dales pony "Molly" (known here as "fluffy") who is starting to go nicely under saddle after a very successful in-hand career and to eat some "caramelised" sausages!!

Chukkas on the weekend were rather competitive and speedy!  Andrew has now been bitten by the bug and picks up his first polo pony on Monday.

Our two are looking rather fit!!

Going Home...

Will's polo playing thoroughbred mare "Jamaica" goes home scanned in foal to Arrayan and due on the 29th of April 2010 - going home 21 days in foal after staying just 23 days - just the sort of broodmare everyone wants.  A lovely mare with the kindest temperament.
