Our much delayed honeymoon! Initially the thinking was “ooof everything is expensive, we are only going once, let’s fit everything in” - quickly you realise this is insanity and the lure of a flight that is just over two hours will help soften the pain of the cost of any potential return trips. We headed from the airport to the Blue Lagoon, now I knew it was a man made pool using the residual heat from the Svartsengi Power Plant but it is still a surprise it is SO visible from the lagoon. That said, it was surprisingly nice and soothing, we did the facemasks, got our drinks at the swim up pool, stood under the hot waterfall and had a sauna. Suitably relaxed we picked up the Suzuki Jimny and with a quick stop at the bridge between continents we headed in to Reykjavik. An evening stroll to see the Sun Voyager, Skolavordustigur Rainbow Street and Hallgrimskirkja rounded off day one.
