Dodging a fairly decent storm we ticked off a few of the Golden Circle bucket list items, starting with Gulfoss waterfall which is more impressive than the photos suggest and then moving on to the Strokker Geysir. After detouring to Bruarfoss “Iceland’s bluest waterfall” we stopped at the tomato farm for lunch and while I don’t actually like tomatoes everything was delicious, the bumble bees were hard at work in the greenhouses. Next we stopped at the Kerid Crater, I imagine this is what Vesuvius would have looked like if we’d been able to peer through the rain. Then finally we stopped at Pingvellir National park, walking the canyon between the continents as far as Oxarafoss.
