I'll just put the chickens in for you...!

Toledo Injury - Day 20

Bandage off, antibiotics stopped, turned out, this foal is as hard as nails!!

Bob Away Home...

...Via Gilsland Show for the Novice Ridden class, not too shabby for a pony that was unbroken a fortnight ago.  Warming up wasn't as hair raising as it looked though he did find the burger van strangely suspicious...!!  Bob even left the ground for the first time before he was safely delivered home.  He no doubt told the Dales ponies he lives with that he'd been playing polo and going to shows and they probably said "Now, now, don't lie Bob"!

Bob the Polo Pony!

There had been a few comments on Facebook suggesting that now that Bob had been broken in a fortnight he should surely be playing polo, Bob says he is ready and willing to be flown to South America for the high goal season but the fluff stays!

Bugs and Butterflies...

Its teeming with insects around the muck heap!

Yet another good day...

I'm sure the sun will stop shining at some point but for the moment its marvellous!

Fresh Grazing...

Mark has spent many a "happy" hour topping all the fields over the last few weeks, possibly cursing the purchase of a five foot topper and the lack of air con in the tractor.  The mares and foals moved last night and the rest of the horses today, there was a distinct lack of bouncing around as they put their heads straight down.  No rest for the wicked of course, topper off, harrows on!!!

Timber...

Yesterday one of the big beech trees had come down over the fence into the field, now they always say you shouldn't camp under Beech... this is probably why.  Bearing in mind the Beech tree is also known as the widow maker due to its nasty habit of dropping big branches without any warning it was with some trepidation Mark went in with the chainsaw.  I stood at a respectful distance, picking up the odd branch, offering moral support.  Mark said there were a few "twitching like a rabbits nose" moments.  Glad to get the job done with all limbs attached, the fence up and some very happy broodmares in the field and munching merrily.

Exbury Ghost...

Sadly we had to make the decision to put our lovely Appaloosa stallion Nico down tonight.  He was a kind horse, an easy stallion and an excellent producer.  He owed us absolutely nothing.

Toledo Injury - Day 12

Such a happy foal despite everything we doing to him and with a super appetite too!  Bandage change today so we have a photo taken on a proper camera with a flash.  It shows the wound probably more accurately though its less flattering than a nice dark camera phone shot.  Doing fine though and IV antibiotics now stopped.

Haylage...

The first three trailer loads stacked with another five or six to come, hoping not to run out this year and planning on making the hay turtle redundant!
