Chamfron Dressage

Chamfron Bellini posing after filming her Medium online dressage test, she has had a break from dressage and mostly hacked last year.  Chamfron Nicobar also had his first dressage outing after an extended break, winning in a class of ten.

Keep Moving - Week 4

A week of storms that flattened the field fence, our garden fence, mum's garden fence (gate and summer house roof) and to be honest, me.  Two horses and two houses to keep on top of in the depth of winter seems overwhelming at times.  Spidey had an arena outing with Molly at the start of the week and a hack with Molly at the end.  On Saturday I also managed a walk around the outer edge of Butterdean Woods.

Keep Moving - Week 3

Spidey was on step duty on Sunday, a baltic but pleasant hack out with Molly.  It was not any warmer on Monday but I did six miles looking at ponds for work.  On Tuesday the boys went up to the arena for Cactus to get a new saddle fitted, his current saddle was fitted with a different gullet to act as a stop gap and a new saddle ordered.  Spider supervised, standing in the sun looking particularly happy and fluffy and being regularly snacked - his best arena hire ever!  Wednesday I went to the office, for the first time in nearly four years, we all had a pleasant stroll around the pond at lunchtime (didn't calorie offset the tray bake on offer though!)  Thursday I did four miles walking up through Woodhall woods and then Spider was back on duty on Saturday.  We just went along the railway line but still spotted several deer and a fox, it definitely felt like the calm before the incoming storm.  Cactus was volunteering himself to be ridden instead and I am very aware that this years "Keep Moving" will be much more riding based than walking with two to keep in work and the challenges that will bring.

Keep Moving - Week 2

Another arena trip on Sunday as the tracks were slippy.  We had tickets for Craigmillar Castle as part of Historic Environment Scotland's free Sundays but we were already running a little late when we drove past and the very limited parking was full, the option was parking in Niddrie and walking up which was a little unappealing!  The very exciting part of this outing was spotting my (recently sold) Ignis speeding along the by-pass!  Back at work this week and I only managed a couple of railway line walks and taking the boys up to the farrier on Wednesday.

On Saturday we headed through to Glasgow to pick up Craig's new truck and has he sped home I decided to get my steps in Pollock Country Park.  I had a quick wander around the Burrell Collection and then did nearly five miles around the woodland tracks.  In 2007, Pollok Country Park was named Britain's Best Park and in 2008 it was named the Best Park in Europe, it isn't one on my list to repeat though I am sure it is impressive when the gardens and the rhododendrons are flowering.

Keep Moving - Week 1

Glorious day on Sunday and as Spider was not full on swamp donkey both boys went to the arena together.  Cactus was practising for his great dressage debut (it has since been cancelled) and Spider was smug in the knowledge that he won't be going out in public until he has lost fluff / flubber / filth.  The sun was still shining on Monday so Spider hacked out on his own, on Tuesday we walked around North Berwick Law before Spider escorted Megan on a bimble (somewhat less bimbly going past the donkeys of doom), then both boys out with Molly on Wednesday.  On Thursday I wormed the boys with Pramox so they had the day off and I went to explore the John Muir country park for potential future hacking routes but I found it a little underwhelming if I'm honest.  Cactus went up to the indoor on Friday and was very well behaved but I am not convinced by his saddle so thats the next job and on Saturday Spider went out hacking.  It's been a very productive week getting the boys out and to most people I'm sure it looks quite dull but actually lots of boxes have been ticked, shame work is going to get back in the way next week.
