Not in Luck!

Turned Arrayan out tonight and was a little surprised to find he had a friend (because we don't have sheep!!)  Arrayan showed it all his best moves and turned on the charm but when I opened the gate it didn't hesitate and legged it off down the drive!

Hoards of little vampires...

Ah all this "lovely" mild wet weather hasn't half encouraged the midges and now the clegs are out with a vengance.  Decided to try the NAF tags on some of the more sensitive girls (In particular Ruby who gets covered in bumps and Molly who can be difficult to keep condition on so the last thing I want is her milling about unnecessarily)  Our broodmares are kept hogged so I had to do a bit of creative placing of the tags but so far a week in they are all still on and seem to be helping so we will stick with them over the summer.  

I'm wearing the wristband and have definately been bitten a lot less and I'm utterly irrisistable to bugs normally.  They are available online here - NAF Fly Products for anyone else the same!

No idea where the peanuts go...

In less than a minute I'm sure I saw adult and juvenile great spotted woodpeckers, goldfinch, chaffinch, sparrow, nuthatch, blue tit, coal tit, greenfinch, siskin...!!  Really need to set up a hide and take better snaps.

Chamfron By Dand - Four years old.

Happy and relaxed after going out a hack in a new area with a new horse in preperation for hopefully doing some pleasure rides in the autumn, Rebecca says she's very proud of him and sometimes forgets he's only four because absolutely nothing bothers him.

In between showers...

We had a wee walk round the farm, wildlife seemed to be limited to the rarely seen soggy whippet (not because it doesn't rain, because it does, lots, he just prefers not to go out in it) and possibly a juvinille woodpecker?  Not a great shot of it but it does indeed look like they are breeding at the bottom of the garden.
