Chamfrons this week

Christine and Chamfron Tizona have been riding the Imber perimeter path dressed in WW1 cavalry kit.  Chamfron By Dand was at Tentsmuir where he got his first silver thistle qualifier  by completing 62km (38 miles) in just over 5hrs. Average speed of over 12kmph and finishing heart rate of 44 giving him a speed category two gold.  I also saw that Wilden True Blue, a 6yo by Arrayan Numa has had his first BE90 outing with an entry in for another run this weekend.

Keep Moving - Week 14

Just general mooching this week including another decent walk at Big Saltoun woods, I believe it is a great spot for butterflies and dragonflies later in the year but for the moment there really is very little to see.  I tried an explore down the paths at the back of Dalkieth High School but unless burnt out vehicles and substations are your thing there is also nothing worth getting the camera out for there.  Then as it was a lovely Friday afternoon I had another stroll round Broadwoodside which was rather more scenic.

On Saturday we headed out to Penicuik house estate and it was a bit of a hidden gem.  The main house burnt down in 1899 and remained a roofless shell until 1985 when the Penicuik House Preservation Trust was founded with the remit to restore and protect Penicuik House and the built structures within the designed landscape for the benefit of the public.  We saw the main house which is open to the public on Saturdays, the Knight's Law tower (the most fabulous imposing Dovecot) and the lost garden of Penicuik.  There is more to see so this one gets marked up for a return visit!

Also spotted some Easter Bunnies.

Chamfron Updates

This week Chamfron Bellini was out dressaging with a new rider, 2nd in Prelim 19 and 5th in Novice 22.   Chamfron Almendra has been out showjumping with two clear rounds in the 90 and 100.

Keep Moving - Week 13

Sunday saw a casual stroll around North Berwick, we saw the recently unveiled sea plastic mural, the largest in the UK.  The mural has been made using about 13,000 bits of a 27,000-piece plastic collection, gathered by East Lothian local Elizabeth Vischer from a 200m stretch of Longniddry Bents as part of her 100 beach cleans Covid lockdown goal.  Tuesday's lunchtime walk started at Amisfield walled garden where I took some photos of their large shed and their raised beds for our garden renovations, Craig's face suggested I was getting a little optimistic.  We then headed through the golf course and back along the Tyne.  Wednesday was a resurrection of the Work Wednesday Walks for 2023 and we did a great loop around Abbotsford while putting the world to rights.

Finished the week with a walk around Edgelaw Reservoir, parking in Carrington and walking up Manse Road to the 36 acre reservoir and then round it.  Definitely a walk of two halves, the North side was gnarly in places, I felt I got a good work out as I clung from tree to tree desperately not wanting to join the pike, perch and roach!  The South an easy woodland stroll.
