Cheeko 1988 - 2010

Sad day as Marks ex showjumper and ex polo pony came down with colic suddenly this afternoon and left him no choice after owning him for 17 years.

He had been a bit of a lad in his day before turning into a grumpy old git in his twenties!  The last couple of years we had used him as a teaser on the stud and he still thought he was the main man and herd boss.

Chip at nine months.

Chip at nine months old, still molting furiously and the brown streaks are molasses, helpfully groomed on by the others.  Slightly going through the yearling fuglies but still a very very nice little horse.

And a mummy's girl!!!

One away

Chamfron Colorado has left to go to his new home, he's only going ten minutes down the road though so we will see plenty of him.

This was him at a day old, he was sporting more of the furry yak look when he left!!

Immortalised in Yarn!

Well friend Caroline is the big Four O tomorrow so what do you get someone for such a momentous occasion?  You get them modeled into a Meerkat, what else?  Caroline runs her own dog walking business as well as being an artist so here is Meerkat Caroline thanks to Niftykniks.

Well Caroline wasn't going to let that lie was she?  So now you will see "Mule Meerkat" based on yours truly and Treacle.

Highly recommend Heather's work so if you are looking for an unusual pressie for anyone give her a shout.

Spring!

Well yesterday was glorious, the 1st of March and it felt just like spring, I took rugs off the brood mares that were in and spent a happy hour transferring all their fur to me.  The dashboard on the computer was a full row of bright smiling suns with temperatures of up to nine degrees all week.  I had a fair old bounce in my step!  Which is why I was a little surprised when I walked the dogs at midnight and there was...

SNOW!!
