I am amused at myself, I didn't realise I was so easily led - I am finding the Equilab App fascinating! I didn't ride yesterday as it rained all day but it was a glorious evening tonight so out we went. Pre App we would have turned down by the fishing lakes and gone home at that point, tonight we basically incorporated two hacks in one and carried straight on instead. I had the phone tucked down my chaps tonight and it was accurate on pace so I now know it needs to be somewhere with no shuggling. 155ft climbed and eleven, yes eleven gates opened!

Chamfron Toledo - 6yo
A very smart looking Toledo, I thought this was an interesting photo as there is absolutely no evidence of the injury he had as a foal.

More tracking, less snacking!
I call this the hack of the many gates! Well I must say yesterday shamed us in to going a little faster and a little further, I wouldn't normally cut into the first field for a canter or do the loop on the top right of the photo. I cantered in four places so I can see that the tracker is regularly substituting canter for trot, it's not because we are flying along but maybe the inside pocket of my jacket is not the most accurate place for it. We stopped to chat for five minutes, climbed 161ft and we were both warm!

It hacks, it snacks!
OK, I am a little behind everyone else when it comes to tech, but now not only have I grappled with Netflix and watched After Life (not a Ricky fan but it made me laugh) I have tracked our hacks with Equilab. I have no intention of blogging every hack but I thought a week might give me an interesting insight. So Monday - Photo one is evidence that I have no pretence at professionalism any more, it is easier to do the gate from the far side, he isn't going anywhere, he is also plump. Photo two, wow we really do pootle! There are some errors, I did not canter down the road to finish. Apparently I expended 208 calories, Spider probably didn't even expend the grass he is snacking on, we climbed 105ft. The shame, Charlotte has informed us that even in her very unfit state she runs faster than that (Spider says, yip, you are not carrying tubby).

Kinclaven Bluebell Wood
The difference of a week! Firstly Rebecca had given me idiot proof directions so I was actually in the right spot and secondly the bluebells were coming out beautifully, I think another week will see them at their best but it was still glorious today. Despite her very loyal service I bit the bullet and traded in Mark's old iPhone 5 for a newer model this week, a very shiny thing that feels like it might snap at any given opportunity, must say it does take a slightly better photo than the old girl did...
Chamfron Compostela - First Show
Stela went to her first show today and was beautifully behaved, she got two third places and qualified for Hickstead. She was shown by Hannah Gardiner. And in other Appy news, Chamfron Colorado whizzed round another pleasure ride, a 27km at Fort Augustus.

Coming early
Both the badger and the fox came in in daylight last week, the camera took plenty of photos of the fox but it was clearly very wary and often had a blurry head. Less photos this week as the camera only performs with brand new batteries, once it gets below 50% (which can be day three!) it gives up of night time images and restricts itself to hundreds of shots of squirrels. I think the time has come to investigate a different white flash trail cam.
